Samsung Trance

May 2, 2009

This week Samsung’s Trance made an entrance into the list of the top music phones. With Bang & Olufsen’s ICEPower technology, the Trance also has 3D sound effects that provide wide, dynamic, and surround sound.

All that and the Trance is pretty easy on the eyes as well, with a silhouette like that of a violin’s, and a lovely glossy piano black surface. We even liked the touch-sensitive navigation, though we would’ve preferred a more tactile experience. It also has stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5-mm headset jack, which are great to have on a music phone. Our only gripe is that the Trance does not offer EV-DO, and therefore does not allow over-the-air download of music via V Cast Music. The only way to get music onto it is via a USB cable to the PC. But for only $49.99 with a two-year service agreement, that’s not too bad.

Samsung B7610 Louvre

April 4, 2009

There is a brand new Samsung in town – the B7610 Louvre, which has made an appearance at The Phone House (Dutch version of The Carphone Warehouse). Design-wise, it does share many similarities with the F700, boasting a similar form factor as well as sliding QWERTY keyboard in the equation. However, this smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, and apart from that, details concerning it is scarce – very. Speculation is rife that this will come with at least HSDPA connectivity and a 3.2 megapixel camera, alongside an expected July release for a yet unknown price point.
