Samsung Star 3G S5603

The Samsung star frenzy had churned up the touchscreen phone market six months ago. Samsung meant some very serious business with the launch of the Star 3G S5603 competing with the market leader LG Cookie.

With excellent features such as a large 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen with a resolution of 240×320 and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI which is one of the best UI’s available in this segment along with video recording capability, an MP3 music player, and Stereo FM radio. The Star S5603 is a 3G enabled phone with full Internet browsing support. Features like Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, GPRS/EDGE and USB 2.0 port add on to the package. It comes with 80MB internal memory and also supports 8GB MicroSD card which is housed beneath the battery pack.

The 3.0 megapixel camera with LED flash and smile detection can shoot 9 consecutive shots with a single click. The battery doesn’t pack much of a punch but it is expected to give the phone about 8 hours of talk time. Unlike the LG Cookie, the Star is smaller, lighter and extremely comfortable to hold. Samsung Star S5230 keeps rolling in sales for Samsung

Six months ago, Samsung stormed the touch screen phone market with the launch of the Star S5230. Now sales are approaching the 10 million mark.


Being the cheapest among the touchwiz series of handsets to be released in India, the Star S5230 kept Samsung stores busy with customers. It comes with a 3 inch TFT resistive touch screen display and has an accelerometer for motion sensing. It has 50MB internal memory and also supports 8GB MicroSD card for more storage.


The Star S5230 boasts of a 3.15 MP camera with smile detectionandvideo recording capability, along with anMP3 music player, and Stereo FM radio with RDS. It also has a Full HTML browser, QWERTYonscreenkeyboard, “Gesture Lock” and handwriting recognition features.


There is also Bluetooth 2.1, GPRS/EDGE and USB 2.0 port for connectivity. Applications on the phone include a Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) and Shazam Find Music service. The 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery can power the phone for 6 hours under normal working conditions.

Priced at Rs. 9,500, the Samsung Star S5230 comes in three exotic colors (Black, White and Pink), and it is definitely something any youth would like to own. To conclude, it is a thumbs up for the Star S5230 except for the low battery backup.
