New WiFi standard approved by IEEE

August 31, 2008

IEEE has approved the latest version Wi-FI 802.11r.  No one is using 802.11n version .802.11n version is still a draft, while Intel is embedding these standards into their platforms for 3 years which are not approved.

The Wi-Fi standard 802.11r offer access point transfers in less than 50ms for authenticated connections. So, this is faster than the older version 802.11n . So, It is perfect for those who stepped into voip calling because it allows you to successfully maintain voip call between Wi-Fi access points.

So, we are step ahead for “free for all city wide access to internet”. We need physical infrastructure to support the new technology. Although this is small step, I think this will become strong in future.
